Everyone, including Nandana's friends, referring to Karthik as "handsome" gets a little annoying as well.Īnyways, the movie is about the chemistry between the lead pair, Nandana's apparent hatred for Karthik and the latter's unconditional love for her. For some reason another millionaire, Nandana's dad(Sayaji Shinde) feels that Karthik is apt for her, amongst the 2000 odd potential bride-grooms he looks at really strange, considering how even middle class families are looking for son-in-laws who are independent and can earn. But, "my dad is rich" Karthik is very lucky that he could wear super expensive clothes, strut around in poolside cafes and drive around in a Range Rover. Any wannabe writer will tell you, freedom is not about frittering away your dad's money on world trips, taking selfies with an SLR camera(a little weird, yes) and then wanting to get married even before you thought about finding a settled source of income. Even though he talks about freedom often and eventually ends up as a published novelist, he gets it all wrong.

Karthik though, is an interesting character. Pooja Hegde as Nandana is a girl who loves her dad and never says no to him and Karthik is madly in love with her. The movie starring Naga Chaitanya as Karthik is a throwback to the old romantic tales like Maine Pyaar Kiya(remember how albino pigeons are so important). Vijay Kumar Konda's movie has such a rich and vibrant look thanks to its cinematography by I Andrew, that you would feel you are looking at a photoshopped picture, which although pretty to look at has that unreal, slightly elevated and exaggerated feel about it. Is it a good thing or bad? We cannot always tell, because a movie is not just about one concept, but the overall execution, the climax and how it all ends. Oka Laila Kosam falls right into that pattern. The rest of the movie is how he proves that concept to everyone else, one way or the other. Naga Chaitanya shows that he is at home with romantic movies.Your average love story has a hero, who has a certain concept of love. Editing of the film is neat and the art direction is also good. Oka Laila Kosam has very high production values.ĭirector Vijay Konda has done a good job, but this film does not bring in the entertainment that his earlier film Gunde Jari Gallatayyinde did. We get to hear meaningful and simple dialogues in this film. The songs by Anup Rubens are good and gel well with the film. The emotions are not shown properly in some parts of the film. The director could have given a better first half. The inital twenty minutes of the movie moves in a sluggish pace. The film though is a straightforward one has a predictable ending this is the main drawback. She is one new entrant who does have star material in her. Her acting skills are fine for a newcomer. He does romantic scenes with much ease now. His acting has improved with every film of his. The director has shown the film in a light-hearted manner. The film is a simple one yet entertaining to some extent. What next? Will Nandu marry Karthik? If she does will Karthik be successful in sowing love in her heart? All this is what Oka Laila Kosam is all about.

When Karthik proposes Nandu, she refuses.īut fate has other plans. Nandu on the other hand does not get along well with Karthik. One beautiful day he sees Nandu (Pooja Hegde) and falls in love with her. Karthik (Naga Chaitanya) is a rich guy who wants freedom in life and wants to explore things after completing his study. Touted as a beautiful romance, the film has been much awaited this season. Oka Laila Kosam starring Naga Chaitanya and Pooja Hegde has come to theatres.
